This coffee is from the region of Jinotega in Nicaragua. Tierra Madre is owned by Juana Francisca Castro. She is 52 years old and has 2,142 women members that work and help on the farm. Tierra Madre is strictly women run and operated. Only 15% of women have land titles in Nicaragua which is key for accessing loans for production and changing tenure. The coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,100 - 1,450 miles above sea level. This coffee consists of Caturra, Catuai, varieties. It has flavors of lime, raisins, almond, red apple, kiwi, lemon, pecans. It’s a smooth medium body coffee.
